About Us
Festival of Small Halls

The Prince Edward Island Festival of Small Halls is an Island-wide traditional music and dance festival held in community halls across the island and on two Northumberland Ferries. The festival brings together musicians, dancers, artists, traditional music fans, and community hall committees to celebrate exceptional music and dance in many small rural halls. The Festival of Small Halls reunites artists with the venues where they got their start. Small halls are the focal point and beating heart of Island communities. They breathe life into the regions, and the Festival of Small Halls helps restore and upgrade the halls to enable them to echo with vibrancy once again. The Festival aims to once again bring the best of Prince Edward Island's musical and artistic history and culture to the forefront. As well as PEI's best, we will bring world class entertainers from all across Atlantic Canada. Performers for the 2010 Festival will include, Vishten (PEI), Gordon Belsher (PEI), Chaisson Trio (PEI), Troy McGillivray (NS), and many more world class Atlantic Canadian and International Artists. The 2010 Festival of Small Halls will make your toes tap, your heart race and leave you wanting more!

Harmony House Theatre

Originally constructed as a church in 1846, Harmony House Theatre's proud owners undertook many months of renovations, using recycled materials such as vintage beams and bricks wherever possible, in order to arrive at the unique showplace it is today. This very charming, hip yet mature, rustic yet modern, completely comfortable, 140-seat venue is now the perfect setting for a cozy and intimate, high-quality performance. It's equipped with a professional sound & lighting system, movie projector & screen, sloped theatre seating, air conditioning, box office & concession stand, and is also wheel-chair friendly. New for the 2009 season is a downstairs lounge -- somewhere to go for a sociable before or after the show! Located on the main route, half-way between Charlottetown and Summerside in the heart of the community of Hunter River, the venue is only 10 minutes from Cavendish and is easily accessible from all points on the Island.

Montgomery Theatre

The Montgomery Theatre proudly presents plays from the life and times of L.M. Montgomery, the Island author who has inspired generations of readers worldwide. This non-profit company offers beautiful international-standard professional productions. We perform in the renovated 128 year old Long River Church in Cavendish, a church once at the heart of L.M. Montgomery's spiritual and social world.
Between July 14 and August 23rd, 2009, every night at 7:30 two comedies are performed in repertory - plays that Lucy Maud might have seen and enjoyed herself. This year the plays are Private Lives by Noel Coward and The Four Poster by Jan de Hartog. These light-hearted and witty pieces are as certain to entertain today's sophisticated audiences as they did the theatre fans of Montgomery's day.
